I first learned about Scorey from hearing his song ‘Die Young’ on Tik Tok, getting hooked by his melodic rap and catchy lyrics. After that, I had to see what all the hype was about so I did as I always do and took to Soundcloud.
At 23 Bakari Ward, or Scorey, has the ability to develop into a very successful artist. While he is definitely a rapper, I can see him eventually tapping into other genres because his vocal range is just that great. It reminds me of a young Lil Tjay or Polo G.
His most recent track ‘Girls Love Rod Wave’ is just reassuring this comparison. A guitar-driven melodic track about a girl shows his personality and has you singing the chorus ‘Girls Love Rod Wave / Girls Love To Party’ over and over. I also really enjoy his songs ‘Guardian Angel’ and ‘Love Letter’ which have the same type of vibe to them, and you can see the Polo G influence.
Beginning recording music in 2018, he received a co-sign from non other than Polo G in 2019 after hearing his debut single ‘Freddie Krueger’. It’s been only 3 years since Scorey began recording music, but if you go through his discography you can see a tremendous amount of growth. I’ve absolutely become a fan and can’t wait to watch him grow in the industry.
