Two songs is all it took for Zinadelphia to prove why she has the potential to be a generational talent in the music industry. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Philadelphia singer/songwriter this might seem like a typo, but you read that right. She has all the tools to become a household name in the industry, and your next favorite artist.
Everyone knows that feeling of being in the car with someone who doesn’t share the same taste as you. More often than not they’re playing their favorite songs, lots of which you have never heard, and the music slowly begins to become distorted and blend together into a whole bunch of unfamiliar music. But every once in a while a song comes on that makes you think “oh shit this is hard”. Which leads me to exactly how I discovered Zinadelphia.
The Philly native has pioneered a new sound that brings back nostalgic neo-soul melodies and combines it with the modern sounds of pop. Her signature raspy voice is unlike any current artist and her fans can feel her emotion on every song she creates. In her first single dropped on major platforms titled ‘Mirrorball’, you can hear the pain echoed in her voice that makes you feel like you are ’17 again’. The song is a love letter over a distorted guitar loop that gives Zinadelphia the wiggle-room to show off that voice and bring her vocals to the forefront of the track, but ends with a jazzy twist of a saxophone solo.
Her second release “Love Language” is what in my opinion cemented her place in the industry. After teasing fans for months on her TikTok page, she finally released the song that had listeners going crazy. Once again exploring the boundaries of modern neo-soul and jazz, she delivers over a catchy guitar and absolutely beastly bass line to create a happy summertime melody.
If I had to bank on an artist to blow up this year Zinadelphia would undoubtedly be my pick. She has all the pieces needed to standout and be a star from the neo-soul production to perhaps, most importantly, a raspy voice that is so distinct and separates herself from the rest of the pack.
