Autumn! Drops Third Chapter of ‘Golden Child’ Series

After a little over six months, Autumn! is back and better than ever with the third chapter in his “Golden Child” series. If you’ve never heard of Autumn!, consider this your introduction, as you’ll definitely be hearing his name more in the near future. The Louisiana artist is coming off of a successful 2022, releasing his album “Antagonist!” which included his hit song “One Way!”, and judging off of his latest album, the hits are sure to start piling up.

Watching the growth of Autumn! over the past few years has been something special that doesn’t come around too often. The 24 year old has an impressive resume and has done something that not many artists in the game can say they have achieved: he’s created an entirely new genre of music. With the help of leading underground artists Summrs & Kankan, Autumn! has experimented with the pluggnb genre, and he has clearly reaped its benefits.

Rollout of a new project is key to seeing the numbers the artists wish for, and Autumn! did a great job at using new-age social media to his benefit. He not only utilized Instagram live to play snippets, but Autumn! interacts with his supporters, giving them a chance to see his witty personality, as he often makes TikToks responding to fans that poke fun at things like his history of crashing rental cars or his tormenting habits of teasing the release of new music.

The 24-song project was released on March 31st, and after a few listens, I can confidently say it’s been one of my favorite albums of the year so far. The album had something for everyone to enjoy, whether it was the creativity in production, voice, or lyrics. Autumn!’s combination of his smooth voice and heartfelt lyrics truly reminds me of something out of a young Drake’s discography. It isn’t often you can compare someone to Drake who also is seeing success, but with a few listens of Autumn!’s music, it’s clear that the relation is present. The reverb and harmonizing vocals in songs like “Girl From the Club! 2” and “Still the Same! 2” mix with the love-sick melodies, giving a real “Nothing Was the Same” feel.

Songs like “The Remorse!” and “If it Means Anything! 2” are sure to get the listeners in their feelings, not only because of Autumn!’s lyrics and voice, but mostly because of the emotional production. The album contained transitions from song to song (sometimes within the song), and even when Autumn! switched vibes from each track, the album still seemed like one long song, flowing into one another. The album’s production was a masterpiece on its own and just went to show how much work went into perfecting it. Also, the primary producer, twinuzis! is showing why he is one of the most coveted producers of today’s underground scene. Twinuzis! and Autumn! have had a long history together… considering they are the same person. Yep. Autumn! produces his own music. He produces the majority of his songs, and also shares his beats with other artists including the one who convinced him to start rapping, Summrs.

This album surely was a milestone for Autumn! as he charted on top 20 on Apple Music and is his first album since a recent boost in popularity. His ability to do it all backs up his self-proclaimed title of  “Golden Child”; from singing, to producing and mixing. Being compared to Drake surely is a lot to live up to, but it seems like he’s prepared for the challenge. “Golden Child: Chapter 3” shows his strengths and to make it even more impressive, he produced the whole project. It’s pretty hard to suggest what tracks to listen to since each one runs into each other, so the best suggestion I have is to listen to it from beginning to end, and appreciate the natural talent Autumn! has for music.
