This isn’t the first time Midwxst has made an appearance on our blog and certainly will not be the last. On Friday he released a single titled “pretty girls” that marked his first track of the summer.
For those that don’t know, Midwxst is a rising superstar from Carmel, Indiana who is known for his distinct shaky vocal melodies and eerily relatable songs. His loyal fanbase that consists of over 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify is growing by the day, and understandably so. I think every song that I’ve listened to in the few years I’ve been following Midwxst has touched me in some way. He has a knack for words and describing emotions which is why I think his fans gravitate toward him so much. He can put those emotions that a lot of us feel and can’t describe, into a song that allows us to express ourselves. “Pretty Girls” is no different and is an ode to the darker emotions that are felt while going through heartbreak and getting over someone who you truly loved.
When you look to the emo rap scene and the new generation coming up, Midwxst can be crowned the prince. Following in the footsteps of giants such as Juice Wrld and Trippie Redd, this kid has pieces of each in his music and if he continues on the trajectory he is now, he has the potential to go down as one of the best and the likes of them.
