Bōlají Is On The Rise

Usually an artists first album seems like more of a test-run than a complete project that comes out with a bang. But Bōlají said f***k that “I’m here”.

If you aren’t familiar Bōlají is a 19 year old artist from Houston, Texas and has made a lot of noise in his young career. Apart from being 1/2 of the artist-producer duo “Palace Floor”, he is having an extremely sucessful solo career boasting over 100,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and has gained quite the fanbase of loyal followers who have found something quite remarkable about his music.

In 2022 he made noise with his release of his debut project Bolaji. The EP consisted of 7 songs the most popular and impressive being “Lavish” which has massed over 2 million streams on Spotify alone. Forget the streams this track is just different. With it’s roots based in R&B the track is a cool vibe over a guitar loop and saxophone. It combines aspects of different genres, fusing a hip-hop cadence into it with some hi-hats that help teeter the line between an R&B and Trap song. Even more, the catchy chorus isn’t forced and is something that you will be singing in your head the rest of the day.

Bōlají is another young artist that is showing crazy potential and making us excited for what the future holds. Most of the time when looking for new promising artists you tend to go in with the mindset of not what they are, but what they could be. In this case Bōlají has not only proved that he has the ability, but that he is in fact ready to compete. His music is a breath of fresh air in an over-saturated industry and I highly recommend checking him out.

More recently he dropped an album in 2023 that was more expirimental than the first project and had a plethora of different sounds on it with numerous features. Some of the featured artists included Graham Riley, Nox, Oble Reed and 4TUNAT. If you haven’t tapped in yet, get on the wave before you start seeing his name everywhere. This one is special.
