This isn’t the first time we’ve talked about Deric at Lost Souls and that means that he’s accomplished something that is probably the biggest challenge for artists…staying consistent.
The Atlanta artist is one of the most underrated people who are helping shape the revitalized underground movement. Centering around pluggnb that was made popular by artists like Autumn! and Summrs, he’s one of the key players pushing the subgenre forward. His sound is eerily comparable to that of his late mentor PNB Rock, and the influence can be seen in his music and demeanor. Deric layers angelic vocals over mainly self-produced beats and has amazing control over his singing.
He began experimenting with pluggnb around 2020 and released “Go Anthem” a year later which went viral with over 2 million streams across platforms giving him notoriety. Since then he’s consistently dropped better and better music and the maturity is evident as ever in his recent single “One Way Out”.
The hook is extremely catchy and has you repeating it over and over in your head for days, but aside from that the production blends really well with his vocals. It’s a little more upbeat of a song, but at the same time gives Deric the freedom to add in his own signature ad-libs and harmonizing background tracks within it to give it layers.
While we anticipate the release of Deric’s next album, we’ve been given a number of singles including “One Way Out” and “Elite Baby”. If these are any indication of what the full project will be like, this could be a statement project for the young artist.
