I can’t think of an artist in recent memory that has made me feel the way I have when listening to Snow Banks music. Talk about versatility and they seem to give the word a whole new meaning upon itself. I can go from listening to “unhuh!” Featuring Autumn! and be blowing the speakers in my car, to “Fair Enough” with YNW BSlime ready to cry. Versatility like that is special and while there are many artists in the industry who try to do that now, there are few who can perfect it to the point that Snow Banks has.
When I think of my favorite song there are two that come to mind. “19” featuring Deric (who is extremely talented in his own right) and “Fair Enough” with YNW BSlime. On the first track Snow Banks shows their ability to put a hook together, and creates a bouncy, Lil Tecca-equse song that keeps the listener engaged and singing the chorus the rest of the day. “Fair Enough” shows a different side that I really admire, touching on their vulnerability and putting their feelings on the table. From the minute I heard the beautiful vocals on the first line “Hearts beating like a metronome, love doesn’t live here anymore” I was captured. Though these songs may have different feels to them, one thing stands common between both of them: the amazing voice. Snow Banks may be considered a rapper, but has a very special set of vocal cords that is hard to come by in rap and gives the versatility to do as they please.
The sound is eerily reminiscent of some of the greatest rappers of our generation in Juice Wrld and Xxxtentacion. If you have been following this brand, you know this isn’t a comparison that we throw around lightly. Both of these artists were huge inspirations for the brand and mean a lot to me, so to find an artist that I feel strongly enough about to compare to the likes of them means they must be pretty special.
Though they’ve had performances in big festivals such as Rolling Loud Miami this past July, Snow Banks hasn’t nearly gotten the recognition that they deserve. At such a young age there’s no doubt in my mind this is an artist that will be around for a long time and touch the hearts of so many people across the world.
