If you browse the internet there isn’t too much known about Jenks, so we’re here to catch you up to speed with what we know about the budding Texas artist.
I first heard of Jenks through Spotify radio when his song “beg for you.” came on and I was struck by the voice that was singing so perfectly over the indie-pop bedroom electirc guitar loop. In the first 20 seconds he hit just about every note that can possibly be hit from low to high and had a cadence that stuck with me. In the backround of the chorus he has his vocals layered very professionally and gives a glimpse of what is possible with this guy.
Jenks began writing music in highschool after going thru a breakup as a way of getting through it. But he had no plans of ever actually recording the things he was writing. It wasn’t until his friend built a music set-up at his house that he put the words into action and released his first song “conversations” under the name Yvng Jenks. Since then Jenks has not only changed his name, but released a number of singles including “beg for you” which has been gaining tons of attention on Spotify.
Jenks released his first set of 3 songs in a project he titled pilot. in 2022 and has consistently released singles since then. Last month in March he dropped another trio of sounds in an EP titeld Over Love.
The self-dubbed Alt-RNB artist is a special talent and has no ceiling. He can piece together full songs that resonate with you, echoing euphonic vocals and melodies that don’t feel forced, but really appealing to the listener
